Dear CEE class of 2024,
We want to take a moment to congratulate you on your admission to UC Berkeley and personally welcome you to our Civil & Environmental Engineering community! Getting admitted to Cal is truly a phenomenal achievement and calls for a celebration that should not be underplayed.
We acknowledge that the transition to social and academic life at Berkeley can be daunting, even more in the present state, but we want to let you know that you have a standing community of CEE students here to support you. Anxious, scared, excited, or overwhelmed—we’ve all been in your shoes and you are not alone in this experience.
As the collective student body organization in the department, it is the intention of ASCE to support your success throughout your college journey. Despite the non traditional circumstances, ASCE at Berkeley holds firm to our commitment to building a strong community within CEE. Although our organization transitioned to a fully remote format, our chapter’s typical operations and resources have remained largely the same as ASCE will continue to host social, professional, and career development opportunities throughout the year.
We recognize the new wave of difficulties remote learning poses in making and maintaining relationships so we ask that you, along with every member of our CEE community, to remain open-minded and to remain engaged. Whether you find home in ASCE or among our partner student organizations, we urge you to find, build, and expand your support system in Berkeley.
You belong here.
ASCE President 2020-2021,
